How To

How to make a perfect Omelette

Omelets are one of my favorite foods to eat at breakfast. How can you make them perfectly? Many different recipes and methods have failed to work for me. So I wanted to share some tips and tricks so that you can make delicious, fluffy omelets every morn.

First, eggs can be very temperamental ingredients for making omelets. It is important that eggs are fresh from an organic market and kept cool until used. The yolks and whites will not form properly if they aren't kept cold enough. This makes your omelets look weirdly colored. If you want to make omelets right away, it's best not to use eggs that are too cold.

Another tip is to separate your egg before adding it into the pan. You don't want any white to get mixed up with the yolk because this could cause the omelet to curdle.

The bottom part of an egg that is added directly to the stovetop might be burned, which could cause a ruined texture in your omelet. Instead, put the egg in the microwave for 10 seconds before putting it into the pan. The microwave heat cooks the eggs just right without overcooking them.

Next, let's discuss mixing the eggs. Mix eggs well together. You need to turn the bowl of the mixer upside down. Now shake the bowl vigorously. This way, the air inside the bowl gets whipped around and mixes the egg thoroughly.

The fun part begins - you need to pour the milk into your mixture. First, pour half of the milk into the beaten eggs and then fold the eggs gently into the remaining milk. You don't need to worry if streaks remain. They will disappear once you flip your omelet.

After folding the eggs, place the pan on medium heat and wait for the oil to start sizzling. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Now carefully crack open the lid of the pan and sprinkle salt into the pan. Salt will prevent the omelet sticking to the pan.

Cover the pan once you have formed the omelet. Wait for the top to set. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the opposite side for another minute. Take out the omelet and place it in a bowl.

This recipe is best when used with whole milk. But, you can use skimmed milk as well.
